1 – What will I need to apply?

  • Business information (Tax ID, physical mailing address in the US)
  • Social Security Number
  • Owner/principal information (contact and identifying information)
  • Account information (bank account, funding information)
  • Existing credit card processing information (Most recent statement)
  • Current terminal model number

2 – Does Century Payments offer recurring payments?

Yes. Recurring Payment is an additional 10.00/month. The merchant would need to be set up with the Quickcom Gateway which can support Recurring billing through the API solution.

3 – How do I apply for a new Merchant Account?

Call 1-877-526-9365 to speak with a Merchant Service Consultant in order to get setup with the best credit card processing solution for the business.

4 – How do I find out the status of a merchant?

Please contact everyswipecounts@5linx.com. Allow at least 2-4 business days for accounts to appear in your virtual office.

5 – What is considered a “finished deal (completed order)”?

When the merchant receives their terminal, iPayments calls them to commence their equipment and they run their first batch of $50.

6 – When will I see my points?

You will see your points ONLY after the merchant has received their equipment and run their first batch of $50. If you do not see your points at this point, you will need to contact your 5LINX Representative Services line at 585-359-2922 for assistance.

7 – What are the business requirements that a business must meet in order to use Merchant Services through Century Payments?

The business must have a US address, the principal must have a SSN and be a resident of the US.

8 – Is there an Early Termination Fee?

Yes, the cost of the termination fee is $350 in the first year and $250 in years 2 and 3.

9 – Will my terminal that I currently use to process orders continue to work?

Your current terminal may work. We need to check it for compatibility.

10 – Do the terminals have wireless capabilities?

Yes, if you order either the WAY MTT 5000 or the FD 400 models.

11 – How do I know which terminal to order?

After learning the most about your business, our team will work with you to figure out the best terminal to help build your business.

12 – I see all these commercials on television about other CC processing companies – how does Century Payments compare?

13 – Why should I sign up for the Every Swipe Counts Program?

14 – I currently am using iPayments to process orders through my business. Can I switch over to process my business orders through 5LINX/Century Payments?

No. If you are currently processing through iPayments, you would be considered an existing customer. Unfortunately, 5LINX/Century Payments cannot set up service for existing customers. If your merchant ID begins with 4223, then you will not be able to setup service through Century Payments because this indicates that you are an existing iPayments customer. Also we cannot sign existing customers of Radiant Systems, Ingram Micro, Office Depot or WorldPay.

15 – Can I sell Century Payments to any type of merchant?

No. iPayment recognizes that certain types of merchants carry more risk than others, or require specialized expertise to monitor merchant activity and control risk. For these reasons, the following merchant types are generally excluded unless specific approval from management is obtained for a particular account. This list is not meant to be all‐inclusive. Other types of products and services may be declined due to their nature. Accounts will be reviewed on a case‐by‐case basis:

  • Animal Sales and Breeding
  • Any Product / Service Considered Illegal
  • Collection Agencies
  • Construction
  • Gaming, Lottery or Raffles
  • Pawn Shops
  • Sexually Explicit Products and Services
  • Travel / Tour Agencies
  • Complete Prohibited Merchant List

16 – What type of deposit efficiency will be granted to the merchant through 5LINX/Century Payments?

In terms of funding, a merchant should batch out every evening and funds may be in the account the next day. This depends on the merchant’s bank and the merchant’s credit score. Most businesses are approved in underwriting for next day funding, but some have a one day delay due to credit/risk.

17 – When can I speak to someone about setting up Century Payments through 5LINX?

Our Century Payments Experts are available Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 8:00PM EST.

18 – What does “Monthly Processing Volume” mean?

Monthly processing volume: Gross monthly credit card sales (dollar amount) that are declared by a merchant.

19 – What is the difference between Keyed and Swiped?

Keyed/Swiped: Keyed means the card number, expiration date and other information is typed (keyed) in. This generally applies to online businesses where the physical card is not in hand or available. Swiped means the credit card is swiped through the terminal/card reader.

20 – Where can a merchant find answers to questions surrounding equipment, batching, deposits, or shipments?

Please refer to the Congratulations Email or the Welcome Kit that is sent out after an application is processed and approved. There is a list of phone numbers that will help the merchant get the answers he/she needs.

21 -What is the MATCH file?

The MATCH file is a database file that identifies terminated merchants. The merchants on the MATCH file were terminated because they did not honor the terms of their credit agreements so the creditor reporter the default to a credit reporting agency. If a merchant appears on the MATCH list, then it is highly unlikely that the merchant will be able to get a future merchant account application approved. The MATCH file is essentially a blacklist from merchant processing.

22 – What are the criteria that the MATCH list is based off of?

  • Business address
  • Federal Tax ID
  • SS#
  • Merchant Name/DBA
  • Business Name

23 – Why am I being required to fax in more statements?

Based on the information submitted, you may be required to submit more statements in order to get your applications through. This will help to prevent an application from being held in underwriting.

24 – Am I offered a Visa Reward Card for ordering through 5LINX/Century Payments?

It depends. If you are currently processing above $5,000 then you will receive a $100 Visa Reward Card. If you are processing under $5,000 or if you are a brand new merchant, you will not receive a Visa Reward Card.
